Helping a Veteran Recover after a Devastating Accident
A veteran was severely burned in a farm accident. The veteran’s family soon faced financial problems. Flags and Honor contributed to helping the family during the veteran’s recovery.
Honoring a Veteran's Final Journey
When a veteran passed away, Flags and Honor helped with some of the service costs. The family did not have the means to provide an escort to Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Flags and Honor was happy to provide the family with the funds so this veteran could be sent off with dignity.
Bringing a Veteran Home
Flags and Honor were asked to assist a family that could not afford to have their son’s body brought back home from another state. Flags and Honor provided funding to the family so the veteran could be sent home and buried at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
A Final Wish: Returning Home to Family
A veteran who was recently discharged from the service remained in Hawaii as a contractor. Shortly after, the veteran was diagnosed and started treatment for a rare form of cancer. The cancer we are told has affected many of the personnel in his unit. The family had absorbed the costs of travel and hotels to be with the vet. The family asked Flags and Honor to arrange for the veteran’s return to Minnesota by air ambulance. The vet was able to spend his last days at home with his family.

Keeping a Veteran on the Road
A Flags and Honor member brought to our attention a veteran who was distressed about the cost of repairing her vehicle. After already spending a large amount of money on repairs, the problems continued. A major Minneapolis car dealer had quoted a sky-high price to do a basic repair. When the car dealer was questioned about the repair, they were not willing to discuss it. In addition, they told the veteran they had begun the repair before authorization and that the vehicle couldn’t be moved. Flags and Honor worked with a local car repair shop to pick up the car from the dealership and have it repaired at a reasonable price. The veteran was put into a rental car throughout this ordeal. Flags and Honor was happy to cover the cost of the repair and rental for this special veteran.
